UPS/ARD Solutions
Some technologies are designed specifically for the event of a power outage in the electrical network. They include uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) for elevators and emergency automatic rescue devices (ARDs). CP Automation’s solutions provide continuous load supply in critical conditions, such as inverter failures and overheating, and are suitable for connected devices in a range of high-rise environments.
Unlike diesel generators, which can take up to 30 seconds to come online after a power loss, a UPS output is always available, so it quickly kicks into life when a loss of mains power is detected. This battery power is then fed through an inverter in order to generate a supplementary supply.
Our ARD solutions are available as single or three phase options and can be sized to meet any ‘loss of power’ evacuation specification whether that be evacuation of passengers to the nearest floor or full lift operation for a defined period of time.
Sizing your uninterruptible power supply (UPS) system
To start the sizing process, list all the equipment and devices that you want the UPS to protect along with their power required for reliable operation in all loaded conditions. This is then used to determine the total VoltAmps (VA), that the UPS needs to supply. The next step is to define how long the UPS should be in operation and this will then dictate the battery requirements. Use our free online sizing tool to help you choose the correct UPS for your application.
