UPS/ARD Solutions

Some technologies are designed specifically for the event of a power outage in the electrical network. They include uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) for use with elevators as automatic rescue devices (ARDs) or as a secondary supply source to enable full elevator operation in a power loss situation. CP Automation’s UPS solutions provide a reliable, continuous load supply in critical conditions and are suitable for application in a range of high-rise environments.

Unlike diesel generators, which can take up to 30 seconds to come online after a power loss, a UPS output is always available, so it quickly and automatically kicks into life when the primary power supply is lost.

Our UPS solutions are available as single or three-phase options and can be sized to meet any ‘loss of power’ evacuation specification, whether that be to simply lift the mechanical brake, evacuate passengers to the nearest floor or provide full lift operation for a defined period of time.

Sizing your uninterruptible power supply (UPS) system

To start the sizing process, list all the equipment and devices that you want the UPS to protect along with their power required for reliable operation in all loaded conditions. This is then used to determine the total VoltAmps (VA), that the UPS needs to supply. The next step is to define how long the UPS should be in operation and this will then dictate the battery requirements. Contact CPA for assistance in selecting the correct UPS for your application.
