Air Shaft / Safety Chucks

Pneumatic Expanding Shaft
  • Used in the web winding and unwinding of cores of different types and sizes.
  • Carrying cylinder body can be made of different high resistance aluminium alloys with anodised treatment on the surface or can be manufactured in different types of steel with zinc plating protection treatment.
  • Steel end journals are always manufactured according to customer's specification.
  • Expanding elements called "lugs" are normally made of aluminium but it is possible to have steel lugs, rubber covered lugs or plastic lugs when there are particular performance requirements or requests.
  • The expansion of the lugs is obtained by a single high elasticity and high resistance central rubber tube that inflates through compressed air inlet, pushing in this way the lugs outwards and so permitting the blocking of the coil cores.
  • Maintenance with replacement of the central rubber tube or lugs is easy and fast.

Reel-holding safety chucks

Stand out for their special range of applications and unique operative solutions. They can be divided into:
  • tilting safety chucks
  • sliding safety chucks
  • side-lay-adjusted safety chucks
  • air-operated safety chucks
  • pillow block and flange chucks
  • transmitting torque

PNEUMATIC BRAKES AR SERIES (packed discs type)
  • The quantity of discs pack (steel + Ferrodo) and the thrust section of the piston can be increased with the result of obtaining higher torque performances. This technical choice permits to have a wide range of brakes with the same overall dimensions:
  • Brakes AR are transformed into groups FAR, with the adding of rotary joint for air feeding.
  • Typical applications for groups include: engagement and disengagement of the transmission, torque limiting, and continuous slitting for tension control in coil winding.
  • For applications where there is no (pneumatic, electric or hydraulic) feeding type, brakes model AR are proposed in manual execution, where the piston thrust drive consists of a turning hand-wheel manually actuated by the operator.

PBR
ELECTROMAGNETIC POWDER BRAKES AND CLUTCHES
SERIES 'P'

  • Manufacturing and functioning principle is based on the coupling of the "rotor" element (mounted on the shaft to be driven) that is self-carrying and coaxial with the "stator" body element containing an inductor winding.
  • The inductor winding fed by continuous current links a magnetic field causing the powder thickening and solidification, and producing a resistant torque between the two elements (rotor and stator). The torque obtained is directly proportional to the current intensity that is feeding the inductor winding of the magnetic field.
  • To increase the heat dissipation capacity produced as an effect of the continuous slitting, groups complete with dissipation radiator or with electro-fan (for brake version) are predisposed.
  • The 'P' brake/clutch series is actually composed by six models.
